RPG Maker Lab [8 weeks]

A small group lab where students will be able to create their own turn-based RPG game in collaboration using RPGMaker MV software.  Students are given the basic tools and programming lessons to get started, but they must solve problems and develop solutions together with the guidance of the Lab assistant.

Recommended ages: 13 -17

Humans under 13 must have a parent or guardian enroll with them.

Curriculum includes:

Planning, timelines, writing, character design, mapping, charting, pre-development, time-management

Collaboration, teamwork, delegation, leadership, listening

Problem solving, researching solutions, trial-and-error,  experimentation

Programming in Javascript (variables, functions, conditions, objects, loops, etc)

Graphic and pixel design in Photoshop CS6

The goal is to have a completed game available to play by the end of 8 week session.

All students receive a license code for RPGMAKER MV to use to practice at home
