Acrylic Paint Pouring

Creating something with gravity and paint is a practice of the art of zen, release, and embracing what the paint brings to you. Allow some controlled chaos into your life as you learn several different techniques for creating your own paint pour masterpiece. Students are supplied with everything they need to make and take home one 8x10" canvas. Wear an apron or your crafting clothes - bay doors may be open for airflow, bring a coat or sweater. Masks required.

Age: 10 - 17. Students may be dropped off, or parents/caregivers are welcome to hang in the lounge.

Noise level: Medium

Skill level: Able to follow instructions, hold a cup. This can be done standing or sitting. Students may bring an assistant with them to help.

Materials: Water based acrylic paint and flow medium

Debbie LaBounty is a former assistant district attorney who quit the practice of law to return to

Bellingham after her retirement. She was raised in Maple Falls and graduated from Mt. Baker

High School. She lived in Alaska for 14 years and moved to Bellingham in 2014. Three years ago,

she saw a YouTube video about acrylic pour painting and thought it looked like an awful lot of

fun. It appealed to her because acrylic pour painting doesn’t require you to go to art school, you

don’t have to spend a lot of money, and you don’t have to color inside the lines. She has

created hundreds of paintings and sold some of them at local gift shops and art markets.
